Remarkable support for Saab

As negotiations continue over Saab’s future, owners and enthusiasts from across the globe have joined forces to demonstrate their loyalty to the Saab brand and their determination to keep it alive.
Led by Saab’s extensive online community, the ‘Save our Saab’ campaign has given Saab fans the chance to share their memories, photos and experiences with one another across all social media channels from Facebook to Flickr, Youtube to Twitter.

Saab’s leading enthusiasts have also been instrumental in rallying the global Saab network and orchestrating the global ‘Save our Saab’ convoys. The convoys have seen Saab drivers gather and drive en masse as a public show of support to Saab. So far there have been events organised in 42 locations across the globe with more planned for the coming days. More than 5,000 cars have participated worldwide resulting in considerable media coverage on and off line.

Here at Saab we have been overwhelmed by the loyalty, creativity and passion of our customers and would like to thank everyone for their tireless efforts and continued support.

I think its beautiful to see the global Saab community come together like this and support the brand and Trollahattan. Nothing like this was seen with Pontiac, Hummer, Saturn, Oldsmobile...etc.

Our loyalty to the brand has reached an epic peak, but not a ceiling. Should Saab survive in the hands of Spyker or Genii/Ecclestone, I think its pretty obvious that our collective buying considerations and devotion to Saab will result in a considerable sales jump. The momentum will spread beyond loyal lines and new customers will take notice of something special we've known all along: a "Saab" Saab is more than just a niche, it is a way of life.

    SAVE SAAB!!!

    Dear GM,

Please do not take any hard decision that you may later regret.
Take a decision that you will be proud of. Take a decision that respects all those who have chosen to buy these excellent cars. Take a decision that respects true motoring heritage, history and value. SELL SAAB! Forget about closing this magnificent brand. If GM does not show respect to all those Saab owners out there, then we will never show respect to any GM product again!

    Thank you for listening GM!

I now own a NG900 and i love it! Ice and snow?..no problems?...102000miles and still going strong! If Gm DO sell SAAB..bring back that hatch back shape in your upcoming vehicles!!
Love the new 2010-NG 9-5 car...but its not a hatch back!

I have driven 6 different SAABs since 1982, either purchased directly or leased thru different employers. SAAB was my very first new car purchase and the ONLY one since. My wife and I purchased two new SAABs over the last two years (9-5 Aero wagon and 9-3 sedan) and were about to buy a third when GM collapsed. We would be heartbroken if it's impossible to structure a deal with someone to maintain, indeed resurrect, this iconic automaker restoring it's legacy of innovation and value. I agree with Kenneth, I would never buy a GM product if their mismanagement results in the dissolution of SAAB.

Since 1947 when a company called Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget decided to design and manufacture automobiles, has there ever been a group of automobiles that are befitting the name "SAAB." People around the globe who have been fortunate enough to own and drive one of these fine cars immediately recognize that there was a great deal of careful thought, safety innovation, aircraft engineering and respect for the driver in each model. Let anyone who doubts what the name SAAB means to the worldwide automotive industry take a look at all of the "Save Saab" convoys around the world! As we have all heard before, Saabs come from the State of Independence and once the company is independent from GM, nothing will stop this Swedish automaker from returning to the status that Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget originally created. Thank you Saab for producing the best cars on earth...and thank you loyal Saab enthusiasts for keeping the faith and demonstrating in the strongest means possible that Saab is worth fighting for because we all want it to live on!!! Are you listening GM?!?!?!

I love SAAB since I was a child, because it was allways easy for me to find one in the mass of cars you see on a parking area :-) But in the last 15 years, I lost SAAB a little bit out of sight, because there were no advertisements in Germany (Why not???). Only if I went to other country like Czech there was one. So when I got the chance to get a SAAB via my company last year I tooked a SAAB 9.3 SportCombi and you know what? That was the best decision I could made. I think this car is eqal to a BMW 3 or an Audi A4 ( I compare it very often with my colleagues and are suprise how good a SAAB is) I like my SAAB and I'm still hoping I can get anotherone in 2 yeras again.

DEAR GM - MOVE YOUR MIND - SELL SAAB.
You never understand the soul of this company and why the customers love them. The only reason that you bought them was to became the biggest company in the world. But you never use there technologies for your cars (like with Opel). Your american cars have still old technology inside and the quality is to bad for the European market. But you never try to let SAAB grow up because you are still thinking that European customers will also buy American cars, but thats wrong. I guess if you compare how many cars SAAB and Opel where sold in Europe and how many Buick, Cadillac, Chevreolet (not original Daewoo), GMC and Hummer the american cars losing. So let SAAB try to live, without you, if you think it's not possible don't care, the market will show you. Or do you have fear?????

    Hopeful messages from Stockholm!
We must hope and trust that common sense will guide the Swedish government. A guarantee for an EIB loan will not cost the Swedish taxpayer a krone when Saab can start making desired products. Redundancy for a large group of Saab employees would cost the State immediately a fortune...
And lets hope that the chairman of Spyker is willing to resign and focus on new and exciting projects....

I am impressed to see all you guys here. I had a 93SS before and is very interested to get the new 93SS. I am now driving a Audi RS4, its fun and its a great car. However I still remember the 93SS is a very very best front drive car which I have even driven, I would rate the best among other germans in same level. When I saw the 900 convertible in mid 80s, I already fall in love with this brand.

In Hong Kong, its not easy to get Saab people but very easy to get those Audi / BMW / Mer fans. When I tell someone I want to buy a Saab again they will all think I am a freak coz they all think Saab is closing down and all the car will become priceless. I strongly believe with proper management SAAB can be as popular as other german brand.

I wish SAAB all the best, you've make a history of automobile.

SAAB is a way of life. You cannot explain it to anyone unless they have driven and owned one. Then they would know how unique this brand is. I worked for SAAB in 94/95 touring the US with the Auto Shows. There was no other car company that had as unique a product as SAAB. SAAB not only cared about the driver and their safety, but made the person one with the car.

I do not blame GM for wanting such an iconic brand, and believe they just couldn't understand what SAAB stood for. I also feel they thought they could transform SAAB into an everyman's OPEL or an American version cross between Pontiac/Buick or whatever they could come up with. Of course it didn't work! But I give them merit for trying.

But now it is time for them to realize their mistake, just as myself and the other millions of Americans who are paying for it with our tax money. Sell SAAB and let someone who TRULLY understands what SAAB once and will again stand for Individuality! GM you still can even make $$ in a new SAAB run by Spyker. Think of the new and exciting product that is about to hit showrooms. The great deal of money spent and more importantly the people who's lives depend on SAAB to feed their families.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Besides when else can you not only save a 60 year old iconic brand, but even better that you will be saving many 1000's of jobs!

I know GM will make the right decision.

    LONG LIVE SAAB!

What did everyone expect when GM took over control,Saab were a niche market, you either loved them or hated then, GM made them run of the mill cars like everything else on the roads rep mobiles, Dont get me wrong, they made nice cars but not as SAAB did 20 - 30 years ago.Remember the SAAB 900 TURBO circa 1986, now that was a car a proper car.
Hope SAAB goes back to swedish control and go back to making cars for the enthusiast and not for the masses, after all it proves that the bigger and more cars you make does not make a secure company.
Whats next, CADBURY!! you should never sell out to the yanks they ruin everything.

I have driven Saab for 13 years now. At first a 2 ltr Saab 900 hatchback and since 6 years a 9.5 Estate 2.3 lt light pressure turbo. It would make me very happy if Saab would be saved. I also do hope that Saab will again be a brand with an own particular face. In my view GM made a mistake by introducing the latest model of the 9.3. it was too ordinary, too much GM or worse Opel. And it was also the first time Saab did not carry the hatchback. Hatchbacks have been typical for Saab throughout their history. They should be put back into life.

    I keep my fingers crossed.

When I was very young person Saab was one of the cars I one day wished to own. I purchased my first Saab a 2008 9 3 November of 2008. I loved the car so much I purchased my second Saab this month. I always believed that Saab had a special place in the world of automobiles for speical drivers. Drivers that dared to be different and desired something special. Something different and special is what Saab gave us and to see the brand disappear is closing the door on future possibilties of success with the new 9 5 & future 9 3.

As a former member of the Saab USA team, it fills me with pride to see the response from Saab owners all over the world to the current terrible situation the brand finds itself in with GM. I had the pleasure to work closely with Saab owners for 10 years and I always knew you were truly a passionate group. These rallies just underscores that. Even though I now work for another automotive manufacturer, my heart still belongs to Saab.

The modern car culture we live in. 2005 I purchased my new Saab 93 Areo in a global economy that was flourishing. Now in 2010 we are in a new era. Saab represents a different car company and an idea that his always been something that I have beat a drum to. Sure there is always hope that Saab could be bought from GM, y...et as it sits today, Saab will be facing a near death and the ideals this company has set out with will be lost. Its funny, it is almost as if a friend is dieing. This car saved my life when involved in a major car accident and yet I can not imagine why anyone would want such a safe car manufacturer to fail. Looking forward in good news from GM and a new potential owner of Saab. Till then, I found this great video on YouTube that you all could enjoy.

I have bought GM most all my life. When I drove a SAAB I was impressed. When GM bought SAAB I was worried. Not I am justified in my concern. I am very displeased in GM. Why can't GM just let SAAB go like Mercedes did with Chrysler? Let SAAB decide what to do with it self. GM sounds greedy here. Must have money for SAAB if not we close it's doors. We cannot let a company with out technology become competition! So GM will Kill SAAB and therefor make allot of people dislike GM. Wow What an American Corporation standard. Take you for everything then ask the US Government to bail them out then shut down a part of their company because we cannot make money on it. What happened CEO and upper management cannot get enough bonus money? If you shut SAAB down I will never support you in what ever you do GM!!!!

GM buys Saab. GM takes Saab innoations to Opel. Gm launches ew" Opel Insignia. GM introduces the new Saab 95 - the Saab copy of Insignia... Just that the Insignia would have been just another tin can Kadett in XL size, without the Saab inventions.

Sad that GM did not see the potential in keeping one of the more innovative offices of the world... What will you do when the present technology gets old? Buy Saab again?

i don't drive. never did, in fact. but i do like some things about cars. in fact, i love cars. that might sound silly considering i don't drive nor plan to get a driver's license anytime in the future. but i consider cars do have the potential to be extremely beautiful objects. that statement became less and less of a fact in recent years, and most automakers have failed to reverse this tendency - making beautiful, boldly designed cars.

saab has been the good side of the force ever since project 92. maybe that's why i love saab, even if i never got to drive one (or any other car, for that matter). and today, i couldn't help but feel happy for saab.

thank you spyker. and thank you saab lovers throughout the world. you made the difference. and hey, maybe now i'll get my driver's license and get myself a nifty little 99.

    Dear All SAAb enthusiasts:
I hadn't driven a SAAB until April 2000, year in which I bought a 9-5 2.3t. Since then, and after having driven Volvo,Mercedes, BMW and Audi, I can say that the low pressure turbo that this amazing cars have, make them a world apart. A class of their own. They are simply different and outstanding.
I´m from Spain, and in my country, SAAB is not as a revered brand as in other latitudes. Nevertheless, apart from being blindly FOR SAAB's SURVIVAL, I'll keep telling anyone who may care to listen that SAAB is unique.

I've just bought a 9-3 Turbo Edition 150ps manaul with TX upgrade in bright red in December 2009. At least three people already have walked passed my house and commented on what a great looking car. It drives like a dream and is just coming up for 1000 miles. All it needs is a heated front windscreen to clear the frost and snow. Why have all cars not got this feature (Fords idea). Anyway, great news about the sale, I wish you all the luck in the future for new innovative cars and great sales.

Thank God GM has handed over SAAB to a company that will honour the SABB heritage. Than you Spyker !!!! GM had turned it into a dull
    glorified Vectra. Bastards.
I will never buy anything but a SAAB ever again, from my teenage life I have always wanted a SABB.
11 years ago I made a decision that changed my lifestyle. Now after owning my 1999 SAAB Monte Carlo Coupe since 1999, it is an affair that is still on going, brings me delight in heads turning as I drive in traffic, and show the effortless power devolped when "moving".
I have just had my Monte Carlo 2 litre turbo engine rebuilt by a SAAB specialist here in Melbourne, yes it cost a lot of $$$ . . . .
I could have bought another car brand for the money I paid to have my engine rebuilt.
9 thousand dollars for a fully rebuilt and "beefed up" engine that performs much better than an Aero.
It was worth the wait, and I thank Swedish Prestige in Melbourne for bringing the spark back into my "baby". I will never part with this car, I want to be buried in it!
Long live SAAB and bring on the next revoloution, and hopefully a new outrageous design for SAAB.
